New Albany mayor puts the borough on the Internet map

BY LISA ROBINSON
OF THE REVIEW

photoNEW ALBANY -- At only 25, Dan Dunham
III is not only the mayor of New Albany, but
the owner and operator of his own web
page design company.

Dunham says his company, D3 Web Design, is how New
Albany ended up on the Internet map. D3 Web Design, by
the way, stands for Dan III.

"I wanted to get publicity for my web design company and do
something for the community," Dunham said. "A lot of people
assume its a service for the community that I do as the
mayor, but I started it before I became mayor. It's just a fun
project for me."

The New Albany web page is only one out of over 20 web
pages Dunham has designed. Dunham, through D3 Web
Design, has created and maintains pages of businesses
throughout Bradford and Sullivan counties including Century
21, Jackson Real Estate, Valley Woodworks, Jan's Beauty
Shop, County Office Supply and the Bradford-Sullivan
Counties Red Cross chapter.

Dunham said the New Albany website includes sections for
town businesses, history, upcoming events, and a new
edition to the page -- minutes from the borough council
meetings.

The mayor said most of the history information for the
website came as the result of help from the New Albany
Library, but most importantly, the town librarian, Doris Hugo.

"Doris Hugo came up and spent a few hours with me telling
me the history," Dunham said. "One page was from my
family. It was handed down to me after my grandfather died.
It was from the New Albany Women's Club, and difficult to
read because it was all handwritten."

Dunham said Hugo not only gave him the general town
history, but history of the town churches and park as well.

The website includes profiles on town businesses such as
Millard's Real Estate, B&P Market, Jan's Beauty Shop,
Dave's Repair Service and Donna's Lawn Ornament's.

Dunham said he set up the website not only for the
community and his business, but to help out others from the
area interested in looking for upcoming events in the town,
and those who have moved away from New Albany.

"It nice to have something local," Dunham said. "One of the
hardest things to get is the upcoming events. I always tell
people if they have anything coming up they can drop us a
line here and we'll put it up for free."
